The storms are rolling over and assessments are already in progress and will soon be completed. Once needs identified; work will begin. Northern states have local resources and personnel ready and responding. Neighboring states will then be called in to assist as needed. As the situation demands and more personnel are needed, a call to states beyond contiguous state conventions bordering impact areas will be issued by the area command currently based in Pennsylvania. I have voiced our commitment to serve as needed and I anticipate the coming weeks will see Alabama disaster relief teams called on to serve.
At least five people were killed and hundreds of homes — and at least two churches — were destroyed or damaged when tornadoes struck several Alabama communities on March 25.
