While the storm system that blew through the Southeast late-November was a welcomed hope for rain for some in extreme drought areas, it was an unwelcome guest for others who were hit by 130-mph winds and damage that appeared to be from two EF-2 tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.
In the early morning hours of Nov. 30, the building of Rosalie Baptist Church, Pisgah, and surrounding areas were hit, according to Mark Wakefield, disaster relief and chaplaincy ministry strategist for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions. Although heavily damaged, Rosalie Baptist church members planned to meet for Sunday services Dec. 4.
Three people were reported dead at press time from storms that hit the area.
