Clean water is something we take for granted. Following a disaster, there may be a limited supply of clean water or there could be none at all if the processing plant has been compromised. When local resources are strained, it is extremely difficult to cook for large numbers of people. Enter Disaster Relief water purification units. These units supply water for feeding units, enabling them to provide needed meals to survivors and response personnel. Shower units are often equipped with water filtration as well.
Volunteers with a water purification unit are trained to provide water free from pollutants, bacteria and microorganisms often found in water following a major disaster such as a hurricane. This is a vital support ministry and important for the entire disaster relief effort.
