A Time To RememberA Time To Remember: 2011 Tornadoes
Years of experience of providing crisis care through the ministries of disaster relief have taught us that the one-year mark of a major disaster often brings back emotional stress to the survivors and their families. It can be as strong as the trauma experienced by many during the days following the original event. Though not every county received physical damage, every community was impacted as the lives of friends and families were altered in an instant.
Many churches throughout the state of Alabama joined together on April 22 for a day of prayer and worship, commemorating the one-year mark of our nation's third largest disaster. Other Sundays in April or May could also be an appropriate time for such an observance. We want to make sure a message of hope is clearly heard and seen. This day will also serve as focal point to accept a special offering intended to strengthen our state disaster relief resources. 100% of the proceeds will be used to to better equip our state to meet the needs of communities in disaster. Please find below resources that are available for download that your church can use to help promote this day. Some are very large files. Please be patient.
